On 12th January, 1916, 8th Royal West Surrey (Queens) of 72Brigade, 24th Division moved into the front line trenches at Hooge in the Ypres salient. There they remained until the evening of the 14th January during which time one man, Edwin Edwards, was killed. The Battalion Diary makes no mention of casualties but it is likely that he was killed by shell fire. |
